ToneZone 1

ToneZone 2

One of the most important factors dictating the tone of a bass is the pickup choice and their positions.  At Anaconda Basses we have spent a significant amount of time analysing the response of pickups at different locations on the bass and have decided on three positions that are tonally versatile and we believe enhance the tone of our basses significantly.  We call these "ToneZones"

ToneZone 1:  This is our default ToneZone and provides players with great overall tone to suit any genre and playing style.  Great low end, a punchy mid range and articulate highs.  All CX5 - Standard basses come with pickups in ToneZone 1 by default.  Customers may select ToneZone 2 or 3 at additional cost.

ToneZone 2:

This ToneZone provides excellent low-mid and upper-mid range tone projection while maintaining a fat, tight bottom end.  The pickups are closer to the bridge which results in better note definition and a more ringing harmonic content.  It is ideally suited to players who like to solo and for chordal playing but also works beautifully in any genre.  CXE5, CXE6 - Elite customers may select any ToneZone at no additional cost.

ToneZone 3:

This ToneZone lends itself to slapping and more aggresive playing styles.  The bridge pickup is in the same position as ToneZone 2, so you get the same growl from this pickup the and neck pickup is slightly further forward than ToneZone 2, but not as far forward as ToneZone 1.  This allows the player more room to dig in when slapping.  CXE5, CXE6 - Elite customers may select any ToneZone at no additional cost.

NB: All our ToneZones are carefully selected to allow the bass to cut through the mix beautifully.

Pickup - ToneZones  Tribute (J4, J4E, J5, J5E)

Tribute J4, J4E:  The default ToneZone for these basses is in the 60's "Jazz Bass" position, with the bridge pickup slightly closer to the neck   In our opinion, this gives the best overall tone for this model.  The pickups used in these basses by default are Woodhead custom wound pickups, with offset pole pieces.  This means that a wider area of each string is sensed, resulting in a fuller, punchier tone than is typical with an inline polepiece pickup design.  Each pickup can be switched independently between coils in Series and Parallel, giving you a huge range of very useable bass tones.

Tribute J5, J5E:

These basses by default have the neck pickup in a position similar to the 60's "Jazz Bass" position.  The bridge pickup is a Woodhead custom wound MM style pickup.  Using a switch you can switch between front coil, both coils and rear coil.  This gives this bass a huge range of very useable tones.  The offset pole pieces add a bit more mids and punch to the traditional bass tones associated with this style of bass.

NB: All our ToneZones are carefully selected to allow the bass to cut through the mix beautifully.
