Fantastic bass!!! I bought the Ultra J Essence 6, I have owned many basses from low budget to extremely high end, but this bass is by far THE best sounding bass I have ever owned. Its just perfect in every way, fit, finish and most importantly, SOUND! The pickups are extremely clear, fluid and powerful. This bass has been the 6 string sound that I have been searching out for a long time. Now I definitely have to order a 5 string. THANK YOU Andrew for building such a GREAT product, being a true class act and providing great customer service, this is what all instruments manufacturers should be.

I love everything about this bass. The fact that it’s created for me to amalgamate the tones just like a chef in the kitchen with it is awesome. I used it for New Year Service and it cuts through the house . The tone is amazing. Can’t wait to order the 5 string in addition to this 6strings. I love it

Wow, where do I start? How about looks? This bass, as all of Andrew's creations is absolutely stunning to look at! What a beautiful instrument! I'm in the US and heard about Anaconda Basses, did some research, listened to the reviews and went down the rabbit hole like many of us do when learning about new basses we have our eye on. I tend to scour for reviews and feedback with instruments that I'd have to buy without playing them first. Let me just say that I have tested, bought and returned or bought and sold at least 8 different 5 string basses in the past year or so. I'm super picky on how my basses feel and play. I was pleasantly surprised after getting this in my hands. Fit and finish are excellent, fretwork is perfect and the components are very high quality. All features found on instruments easily twice the price and more. Not to mention, at 9.5 lbs, this is a very comfortable 5 string to play with for a long period of time (3 set cover band gigs). Now, the tone in this bass is MONSTROUS! The pickups are fantastic in passive mode. Punchy, growly and articulate. Just what you'd expect from a good J-style bass. They are also dead quiet when soloed in the bridge or neck position, not a single noise to be heard. In active mode, it becomes an absolute beast! Each of the controls (stacked bass/treble and mids) allow you to shape the tone you need for specific songs or genres or just need a boost because of the guitar player that's just entirely too loud :). And a passive tone that also works in active mode, without having to swap out or add anything at all?? Suffice it to say that I'm very happy with this purchase and might not be able to prevent myself from buying another one in a different color/configuration sometime very soon. All of this at the current price point literally blows away ANY 5 string bass on the market for the money and even twice the price. It really is that good! One last thing to mention...I had a few questions after making some adjustments to my personal liking after the bass was delivered. Andrew was available and more than helpful when responding. That type of access to the head luthier/creator is not something you'll get from purchasing most basses on the market and it adds value to dealing with a company like Anaconda and a guy like Andrew. Awesome basses, awesome guy!

I literally love everything about this bass, I haven’t had a bass that has everything and more that I’ve always wanted and needed, i am very pleased with this bass!!!

Great Sounding bass that’s quickly become my go to!! Excellent clarity mixed with a warm but punchy low end, these new AC5SB-TN pickups work really well whether it’s going through my amp or straight into a DI. I get a lot of compliments on the colour aswell! I’m loving it!

I have been looking for a bass that represents my tone correctly in live and recorded settings. I’ve been able to find that with the Ultra J5 Essence. Andrew has put in the work to design a bass with a noise free signal that you can pretty much dial any tone out of. I needed meaty lows with crispy clean highs and this Bass delivers. I only need to slightly nudge the EQ to make the whole room feel this bass and even non-musicians noticed the difference! Beautiful design and relatively lightweight compared to other brands. Top tier customer experience working with Andrew. A master of his craft, and a real bass player who understands the needs of real bass players! Should you get one? Yes!
