Ultra J4E - Elite

This  Ultra J4E - Elite  is an instrument that combines classic looks, a traditional sunburst finish over 5A flame Maple top and back, with supreme tone and playability.  The chambered body makes this bass only 3.4Kg in weight.  Apart from making the bass very light, the chambering adds an extremely resonant quality to the bass when played acoustically.

The 32" scale one piece Roasted Birdseye Maple neck is topped with a Roasted Birdseye Maple fingerboard.  The shorter scale is extremely comfortable to play and the narrower 50mm at the 12th fret makes this bass a perfect fit for those with slightly smaller hands.  The shape of the neck and the contoured heel where the neck meets the body, allows for full access to the upper frets without restriction.  The side dots are Luminlay dot markers which aid position visibility when playing in darkened settings.

Pickups:

The pickups are Bartolini BC4CBC Dual coil pickups, the bridge pickup is centered over the  70's Jazz bass position which gives this bass lots of clarity and bite when playing over the bridge pickup.  We chose these pickups for their excellent dynamic response, punch, growl, clarity and balanced output across the strings.

Preamp:

We chose a Glockenklang 3-band Preamp for this bass.  The high quality electronic components allow active bypass to passive mode, without any audible difference in tone. The transparency of this preamp allows you to hear the true tone of the bass, with little or no colouration.

Strings:

We chose D'addario ProSteels for their ability to enhance the punch and growl of a Bass, particularly in the low end.

"The tone range is huge & I quickly found fabulous tones that work me, for both bands. The balance and ergonomics are excellent but the stand out feature is the neck profile scale & feel....its something I have been searching for, for many years. I normally play 2 different basses each gig...I have only used the UJ4 as it feels part of me and my (small) hands do not get tired. Ohh don't forget it looks stunning...thank you Andrew."
