Ultra J4E - Elite

This  Ultra J4E - Elite  is an instrument that combines classic looks with supreme tone and playability.  The combination of chambered Swamp Ash body, coupled with a blistered/flame Maple top gives this Bass incredible punch and growl, clarity and sustain.  The specially chambered body not only lessens the weight of the instrument, but adds an extremely resonant quality to the bass when played acoustically.

The neck is a one piece Birdseye Maple unit, topped with a Birdseye Maple fingerboard, cut from the same piece of timber.  The fingerboard and neck are separated by a black veneer coach line, which adds visual impact to the neck.  The shape of the neck and the contoured heel where the neck meets the body, allows for full access to the upper frets without restriction.  The side dots are Luminlay dot markers which aid position visibility when playing in darkened settings.

Pickups:

The pickups are Dimarzio Ultra Jazz pickups, which have the bridge pickup in 70's Jazz position which adds extra bite to the tone.  We chose these pickups for their superb punch, growl, clarity and balanced output across the strings.

Preamp:

We chose a John East Uni-Pre 4 Preamp for this bass.  The bass already sounds great in passive mode, but if required, the number of tonal options that can be had with this preamp is huge.  The parametric mid range sweep allows you to pin point those frequencies that allow you to cut through the mix, in any setting.

Strings:

We chose D'addario ProSteels for their ability to enhance the punch and growl of a Bass, particularly in the low end.
